Skill qualifications
    Points
  If you have a Degree or Trade Qualification, your nominated occupation attracts 60 points (see the Skilled Occupations List), and you have 12 months skilled work experience in the past 24 months (unless you are entitled to the exemption)

  If you have a Degree, your nominated occupation attracts 50 points (see the Skilled Occupations List), and you have 12 months skilled  work experience in the past 24 months (unless you are entitled to the exemption)

  If you have a Diploma, and you have 12 months skilled work experience in the past 24 months (unless you are entitled to the exemption) 40
Age qualifications
  18 to 29 years 30

Language skill qualifications
  Proficient English – an operational command of English with the ability to use and comprehend complex language well and understand detailed reasoning, or,
IELTS score of at least 7 on each of the 4 components of the test – speaking, reading, writing and listening

  Competent English – a generally effective command of the language, and the ability to use and understand fairly complex language, particularly in familiar situation, or,
IELTS score of at least 6 on each of the 4 components of the test – speaking, reading, writing and listening

Specific work experience qualifications
  If your nominated occupation is worth 60 points under skill and you have worked in your nominated occupation or a closely related 60 points occupation, for at least 3 of the 4 years immediately before you apply

  If your nominated occupation is worth 40, 50 or 60 points under skill, and you have worked in skilled employment for at least 3 of the 4 years immediately before you apply 5
Australian employment qualifications
  If you are employed in nominated skilled occupation or closely related skilled occupation for one of the last four years.

  If you completed specified professional year in nominated skilled occupation or closely related skilled occupation in the last four years. 10
Australian educational qualifications
  You have completed an Australian doctorate at an Australia educational institution after a period of at least 2 years full time (2 academic years) in Australia

  You have completed an Australian Master or Honors degree (at least upper second class level) at an Australian educational institution while in Australia, and prior to completing the Master or Honors degree, you were awarded an Australian Bachelor degree as a result of at least 1 year study while in Australia, and the total period of full time study in Australia was at least 3 years (3 academic years)

  You have studied full time in Australia for a total of at least 2 years (2 academic years) towards the awards of a degree, diploma or trade qualification. 5
Occupation in demand qualifications
  If your occupation is in the demand list, you are employed in this occupation or closely related occupation for one of the last four years and you have a job offer for a full time employment in Australia in your nominated occupation from an organization that has employed at least 10 people on a full time basis for 24 months immediately prior to the date your application was lodged

  If your nominated occupation is in the demand list, and you have been employed in that skilled occupation, or a closely related occupation, for one of the last four years. 15
Regional study qualifications
  You meet 2 years study requirement while living and studying in one or more areas in regional Australia or low population growth metropolitan areas. 5
Partner skills qualifications
  You may receive points if your spouse is also able to satisfy the basic requirements of age, English language ability, qualifications, nominated occupation and recent work experience and has obtained a suitable skill assessment from the relevant assessing authority for the nominated occupation 5
 
Nomination qualifications
  If you are nominated by a State or Territory government 10
Designated area sponsorship qualification - general
  You may receive points if you or your spouse are sponsored by an Australian citizen or permanent resident who is living in a designated area only available to provisional visa applicants.  You or spouse must be related to the sponsor as either:
  • a non dependent child (a nature, adoptive or a step-child)
  • a parent
  • a brother or sister (a nature, adoptive or a step-sibling)
  • a niece or nephew (a nature, adoptive or a step-niece or nephew)
